Abstract:
The aim of the researchers in this article is to "examine and analyze colonial self-consciousness and legalism in the thoughts of Etemad al-Saltaneh" and to use the historical-analytical research method. "Colonial self-consciousness" studies are one of the new fields of study on most issues of Asian and African countries. This critical approach refers to a set of theoretical perspectives that analyze the critical discourse of colonialism by emphasizing the consequences of colonialism. This perspective attempts to illegitimate the power that was established through conquest. In the colonial self-consciousness perspective, indigenous people engage in a struggle against the beliefs, values, habits, and traditions of the newcomer culture that has integrated with and perhaps challenged their own culture. In analyzing the results of this research, it can be said that the most prominent components and contexts in the emergence of the idea of colonial self-consciousness in Etemad al-Saltaneh were influenced by three trends, which are: 1- The influence of Etemad al-Saltaneh's residence in France 2- The influence of Etemad al-Saltaneh's political relations with his contemporaries 3- Etemad al-Saltaneh's personal and group activities in writing treatises and articles with the goals of the idea of colonial self-consciousness and the indigenization of Iranian sciences and civilization.
